Hello Again!
Dear Readers,
Happy Easter! Alleluia, He is risen!
I posted podcast Episode 7, “God Answers Prayers”, on the 10th, and Episode 4 went behind a paywall!
This is from January: PSA about Community Curation. I think it’s still worth keeping on your radar so check this out if you haven’t already!
Thank you as always for reading!
Two Whole Years
February 4th, 2022, I started this newsletter. Then, I waited two months. Then, on April 15th, 2022, I published my first article. My idea for this space has evolved over time: I initially thought it would be a kind of magazine, and then life and circumstances and etc caused me to amend that idea and then amend it again. Since inception, we have brought the Peasant Times-Dispatch to it’s minimum viable product: One rock-solid1 monthly post, and one thoughtful podcast episode. There’s been a hiatus here and there—you’ll see this is episode 20 and it should be episode 24. That’s ok—we’ve got this thing down to a science, and come June I think it will have been one consistent year of posts.
But, let me reflect on my journey on Substack as a whole. I’m a serial news-letterer. I started a space to write fiction,
. I started a Stained Glass showcase at . I have at least one additional project I’m ruminating on. All this to say—I’m settling in, I’ve found what I like to write about, and you all have made it fun for me. Whether you subscribe for notes antics or you subscribe for the newsletters or some combination of both—thank you for making Substack a fun place to be.What’s Next?
I am planning to keep a steady pace going for you. I like the podcast format, and deepening that catalogue is something I am enjoying. The content of my newsletters I have some ideas—I think a pivot to a more discrete set of ideas and really advocating for them is good. I’ve done a lot of demonstrating and examples, but if someone asked “what is the peasant life” I’m not sure I could explain it succinctly. So I want to get this idea of ‘peasant-ness’ distilled down to something usable, a set of principles you can use in daily life to think about your interior and exterior circumstances. It is a tool to help you on your spiritual journey. I remain convinced it can help you. I need to do a better job bringing it to the world.
If this previous phase of the Peasant Times-Dispatch has been an answer to the question “what is a peasant”, this next phase would be described as “you should be a peasant.”
Anything else I do will have to fit into my writing life, which I spend probably most of my time on writing fiction. I have some vague notions about expanding my podcast offering; I still like the idea of using the Chat feature more. But I haven’t thought of a way to do either of these things that fits neatly into the time that I devote to keeping these projects going.
Do you have a feature request, a suggestion, or any feedback you would like to share? Leave a comment, or feel free to DM me. I would love to hear what you like or don’t like about the Peasant Times-Dispatch, and I would like this space to be a dialogue—figuratively or literally.
Thank You
Like I said up top, you all make writing on Substack so, so worth it. Whether you are an active reader who likes and comments on everything; whether you are a long-time email subscriber who reads every word; whether you are a lurker who comes to see what is going on periodically—thank you.
There are a few of you that are even paid subscribers. You have supported me over the last year and your generosity makes a big difference in my life, and I mean that. Your support means the world to me, and encourages me to keep investing in the craft of writing, and strive to make what I do offer even better.
If you’ve been on the fence about a paid subscription, this promotion is a way for me to say thank you to you for supporting me: Take advantage of this 20% off discount which is valid until June 1, 2024.
A paid subscription gives you permanent access to all the podcasts, and access to any paid content I develop in the future. Most of my content will always be free, and the podcasts have slightly more overhead than writing so that is why I lock those away. If for any reason you cannot upgrade to a paid subscription right now—no worries. A like, a comment, sharing my articles and podcasts with a friend, those help a lot too.
It is humbling to see this space grow for two years now, and I am honored that you have entrusted me with your time, your attention, and in a few cases—your dollars. Thank you for your support. I continue to work towards better and better writing and offerings for you, and your presence alone encourages me on this journey.
Thank you for being here. It is an honor to write for you.
God bless you all!

Thank you for reading!
Ad Jesum per Mariam
I hope!
I join with others in congratulating you. While I cannot pay for posts, and do not begrudge anyone setting up paywalls, I do think you bring to Substack and Notes a welcoming spirit, a joyful and supportive way of responding and talking to others, and a kind way of promoting those who are writing along the same lines you are. Scoot, you are a gift to Substack, and I'm grateful to see you and interact with you. You bring a lot of joy.
*clap*
Oh it's been two years since you've been here
A happy day for you
We hope they were two good ones,
And many more in view!
