After the 2008 financial crash, I went on a journey to try and find out what the solution is.

After looking into economics, Socialism, politics, psychology and philosophy, I realised my question was wrong.

It’s not ‘what is the solution?’, but who?

I realised the answer is Christ. Surrendering to Him is the solution to the ills of society.

Individually and collectively, humanity is not intelligent enough to solve this problem. A problem this size needs God. And we ain’t Him 🤔

There's a point of diminishing returns where additional information doesn't actually help us live better lives. Only trust in God repays without any diminishing!

I am really looking forward to listening to this!! This is a topic my husband and I discuss frequently, particularly in response to how so many people here in our rural community react to our lifestyle. I grew up in a city but began living off grid at 24, and now we are properly homesteading in an area that was populated by homesteaders not long ago. It’s interesting/sad to see how skills and practices have been lost as the double edged swords of better roads and cars and more cheaply processed foods and other modern conveniences came into this area.

I hadn’t heard that quote (about washing the plate) from Mother Theresa before, but I like it. God has blessed me with three kids, and teaching them to love each other, not to mention the unlovely, is a daunting task.

Finally listened to this yesterday! Thanks for the reminder and encouragement that I actually don't need to pay attention to the news of the world. I can't push that button.

I really appreciated your take on modernity. It's fascinating to me how easy it is for us, as a culture, to think we're all king makers - that we feel the burden of these big problems, all the while avoiding the ones we have at home. Really enjoyed this - you've got a new regular listener over here.
