WELCOME everyone to SUBtember! This is my one annual subscription drive, so that the rest of the year you and I can both focus on things we love and enjoy, and not have to listen to me making a sales pitch.
SUBtember is first and foremost about you, it’s about this newsletter, and it’s about making sure that I am delivering content that you care about, and that helps you. The mission of the Peasant Times-Dispatch is To educate and inspire Catholics and Christians on the beauty and simplicity of their faith. That’s what the Peasant Life is all about: Simplicity and beauty. The Peasant Life has helped me stress about the world less and love God more, and I know it can help you too.
During SUBtember, as a bit of an enticement, I will be keeping an eye out for:
New subscribers!
Existing subscribers who upgrade to paid subscriptions!
People who engage by liking or commenting on these posts and others!
And I will choose one of you to comp a subscription, for life!
Thank you for being here and supporting the Peasant Times Dispatch!
Dear Everyone,
Thank you for sticking with me through SUBtember! There’s one more post to go and then the drive is done. I really appreciate that you’ve stuck with me through it all and I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing a little more than you’re used to around here.
One of the things you’ve seen me talk about repeatedly is these three ways that you, any of you, can support me right now. They are very simple, and 100% Free:
You can tell one other person about the Peasant Times-Dispatch.
You can tell me what you think by leaving a like or a comment and otherwise engaging with my work here
You can support substacks which I support, because a rising tide raises all ships.
You’ve seen me talk about this but maybe you aren’t clear on how these support me. Let me let you under the hood, so to speak!
By telling people about the Peasant Times-Dispatch, you are helping to get the word out that there is a space here on substack for Catholics and Christians who are looking for simplicity in the modern world. There’s 7 Billion people in the world and I have only a couple dozen subscribers at the time of this writing, so there’s a lot of people out there who don’t know about my work but who need to know. If you have found anything that I have written interesting or helpful, share it with a friend? It will help them and it will help me. There’s nothing to lose here.
By engaging with my work here, you are telling me what you think. A like tells me that, well, you like the article. A comment lets you express yourself more fully, share what you liked about it or why. Tell me that you sent it to a friend. Say hello to other people who are just waiting for someone to start a conversation. I don’t want the Peasant Times-Dispatch to be a lecture hall, I want it to be a lounge, a community center. I want you and I to have a conversation. That means I need to do a little better about starting a conversation, but I really don’t want any of you to feel bashful about speaking your mind. Even if you don’t like something, tell me! I can’t improve if I don’t know what is wrong.
By supporting other substacks which I support, you help the community around here to grow. I am trying to find and highlight Catholic substack so that our presence here is visible. Christian writers tend to be a humble lot, more humble than me, and don’t much care about self promotion, but prefer to take the low-and-slow approach of word of mouth. Well, from my mouth to your ears, there’s a lot more substacks than mine that are worth your time and attention! If you support them, you are supporting me, because you are supporting the community I am a part of. Help the tide to rise, help raise the ships!
Speaking of, the specific newsletter I would like to bring to your attention this week is the Tower of Adam (CLICK HERE)! At the time of this writing, it is my newest subscription and well worth the read. The Tower of Adam goes into fascinating depth on scriptural topics and helps to understand scripture in context of the rest of scripture. When I found this newsletter, he was in the middle of a series on Thorns and how they were used across the Bible. After that he published a collection of his detailed thoughts on the book of Job which were very edifying to read. Scripture is detailed and beautiful and the Tower of Adam does a fantastic job making that easy for the layman to pick up.
Everyone, I am very happy to get to bring new aspects of the Peasant Life to you every month. Thank you for reading, thank you for listening, thank you for supporting this project.
