I will praise thee, O lord, with my whole heart: for thou hast heard the words of my mouth. I will sing praise to thee in the sight of his angels:
I will worship towards thy holy temple, and I will give glory to thy name. For thy mercy, and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy holy name above all. In what day soever I shall call upon thee, hear me: thou shall multiply strength in my soul.
May all the kings of the earth give glory to thee: for they have heard all the words of thy mouth. And let them sing in the ways of the Lord: for great is the glory of the Lord. For the Lord is high, and looketh on the low: and the high he knoweth afar off.
If I shall walk in the midst of tribulation, thou wilt quicken me: and thou hast stretched forth thy hand against the wrath of my enemies: and thy right hand hath saved me. The Lord will repay for me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: O despise not the work of thy hands.
That’s right! You know why? I am getting married! That’s right, Yours truly, Scoot, and the imminently future Mrs. Scoot will be getting married and spending some time with family, so naturally I am taking this month off from writing. I did not pre-plan anything, so you get this month off too. I’ll be back on the normal schedule in December! I’m also moving and a lot of other major life events are happening. So—BRB!
Do you have prayer intentions you would like us to take with us through the sacrament of Marriage? Leave them here! You can also use this thread to chat among yourselves, make requests for what you’d like to see from the Times-Dispatch in the new year, or leave constructive feedback! I’ll look forward to checking in on the conversation in December!
Otherwise, join me in praying the above Psalm in thanksgiving for the sacrament of marriage, and in thanksgiving for this community here at the Peasant Times-Dispatch. I look forward to coming back and rejoining you all as a new man with new purpose.
November Open Thread: BRB
Here is the final verse from the 1650 Scottish Metrical Psalter (Psalm 138 in their reckoning):
Surely that which concerneth me
the Lord will perfect make:
Lord, still thy mercy lasts; do not
thine own hands’ works forsake.
(For your impending nuptials) May all your troubles be little ones, and all your little ones be trouble free.
