I love your honesty! We all feel like that at times; I promised to do a series on monastic history but really underestimated how much time it would take. I am slammed with my real life work at present and finding the time to do all I promised is a challenge! But keep at it, it's always good to have you around on here!
The PTD is my passion project, it’s the reason I joined substack. It gets less press because fiction is a little more exciting and my perspective here is a little limited—but I’d set down Gibberish before I set down the PTD! I’m not going anywhere. Glad you’re still in the arena here too, thanks for being a long time supporter!

Well, I'd tell anyone who wants to be smarter: first work on humility, as most people with the talent to be intelligent defeat it by attachment to their own cleverness; and then find people with expertise you don't already have and go learn from them (which is what I do, and people usually think I'm pretty smart – myself I mostly think I can hardly help it, I have an appetite for understanding and hover it up like a pink marshmallow, but I am always looking for people I can learn from).
Then again I'd also tell them most people don't need to be as smart as they think; that sense is more necessary and wisdom is more valuable. But wisdom's another story for another time, howsoever much I'm sure humility is a plot point somewhere in there too.
You're (probably) going to get a few small comments from me instead of a big long comment. One by one. As I digest this post and try to compose thoughts I've had on it and see if they're worth saying.
